👁️ Eye Makeup

Eye makeup encompasses eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, and eye primer. The eyes are often considered the focal point of a makeup look, so technique matters.

Eyeshadow Application

Start with an eye primer to help colour last longer and prevent creasing. Apply a transition shade — a matte colour close to your skin tone — into the crease to add dimension before building deeper shades. Use a flat shader brush to pack colour onto the lid, then blend the edges thoroughly. Always work from light to dark.

Eyeliner Techniques

For beginners, a pencil liner is the most forgiving. Use short, connected strokes rather than one continuous line. For a classic cat-eye flick, rest your elbow on a flat surface for stability and angle the flick toward the end of your brow. Liquid liner creates a sharper, more dramatic result but requires practice.

Mascara Tips

Curl your lashes before applying mascara for a wide-awake effect. Apply mascara from the root of the lash, wiggling the wand upwards to coat each lash evenly. Two to three coats build volume and length — allow each coat to dry slightly before adding the next. See our mascara tutorial →

💋 Lip Makeup

Lip makeup includes lip liner, lipstick, lip gloss, and lip balm. Lip colour can transform a look instantly and is one of the most impactful elements of a makeup routine.

Lip Liner

Lip liner defines the edges of your lips and prevents lipstick from bleeding. Match your liner to your lipstick shade or use a neutral liner across the entire lip as a base to extend wear time. Slightly overdraw the cupid's bow for a fuller appearance.

Lipstick Application

Apply lipstick directly from the bullet for a bold finish, or use a lip brush for precision. Blot with a tissue after the first coat, then apply a second coat for longer-lasting results. Matte lipsticks tend to last longer than glossy formulas. Explore lipstick types →

Gloss & Hydration

Lip gloss adds dimension and the appearance of volume. Apply to the centre of the lower lip and press lips together. For everyday hydration, a tinted lip balm offers colour and comfort in one step.

✏️ Eyebrow Makeup

Well-groomed brows frame the face and can significantly affect your overall appearance. Brow pencils, pomades, powders, gels, and tints are all options depending on the coverage and finish you want.

Mapping Your Brows

The ideal brow starts above the inner corner of the eye, arches above the outer edge of the iris, and ends at a point diagonally aligned with the outer corner of the eye. Use a brow pencil or brush as a measuring guide.

Filling In Sparse Brows

Use short, feathery strokes with a fine-tipped brow pencil or angled brush to mimic hair. Fill the tail and arch first, then lightly add strokes through the body. Avoid harsh lines — natural brows taper toward the inner corner. See brow shapes by face shape →

Brow Gel

Clear or tinted brow gel sets hairs in place and adds polish. Brush upward through the front of the brow and follow the natural direction of hair growth at the tail. Laminated or fluffy brows can be achieved by brushing hairs straight up before the gel sets.

🌟 Face Makeup

Face makeup covers foundation, concealer, blush, bronzer, highlighter, and setting powder. These products create the base and structure of your entire look.

Base Makeup Order

The general order is: primer → foundation → concealer → contour/bronzer → blush → highlighter → setting powder or spray. This sequence ensures each product performs optimally and layers seamlessly.

Blush Placement

Smile and apply blush to the apples of the cheeks, blending upward toward the temples for a lifted effect. Cream blush applied with fingers gives a natural, skin-like flush, while powder blush offers more longevity. Find your ideal blush placement by face shape →

Highlighting & Bronzing

Apply bronzer to the areas where the sun naturally hits — forehead, temples, nose bridge, and jawline — using a fluffy brush. Highlighter sits on the tops of cheekbones, the brow bone, the inner corners of the eyes, and the centre of the nose. Find face makeup tips by skin type →
